DNS (Domain Name System)

A Domain Name System (DNS) is the method that the internet uses to store domain names and their corresponding IP addresses. In other word DNS resolves the host or domain name to IP addresses. Each domain name is associated with a IP address like 131.200.1.1 four set of digit separated by dots.

Because these four digit are difficult to remember. When a domain name is try to open on any browser, a DNS server translates the domain name into its associated IP address and then the connection is established to the correct computer on the internet. In the Example http://www.ComputerFreeTips.com the domain name is www.ComputerFreeTips.com. The last three character of the DNS indicate the type of domain.
A DNS server is an internet server that is associated with an internet Access Provider.
